Gary Gaertner

Senior Pastor

In November, 1996, Gateway Community Church was born! It was a huge step of faith by eight families who had a passion to introduce people who are skeptical of God, Jesus and Christianity in general to a way of doing church where all inquiries are welcome. My very supportive wife, Sherre, joined me in this faith adventure when our two children, Terah and Jared, were still in high school. It was as if all of my ministry years were leading me to this style of ministry.
Being the Pastor of Gateway Community Church has been the most fulfilling time in my ministry career. Gateway is comprised of some of the greatest, most authentic people with whom I have ever served. If you are ever in the area I would invite you to come and check us out--and see for yourself that what I have written is true!

Tim Biermaas

Minister of Children and Youth

Tim is from Media PA and is currently a resident in Brookhaven PA with his wife Amie and their four children, Lilyanna, Isaac, Adelyn, and Emery. Tim attended Messiah College where he received his undergraduate degree in Psychology. After attending Messiah College, Tim spent the next 10 years working with children and young adults with special needs and eventually headed back for his Master's Degree in Christian Counseling at Cairn University. Along with being the Minister of Children and Youth at Gateway Community Church, Tim also works as a Clinical Supervisor for a Behavioral Health Agency in Philadelphia PA. On any given Sunday you can find Tim either behind the drum kit at church playing with the worship team or helping to teach the children/youth in one of the church classrooms. Tim is a big fan of music, creative arts, and finding ways to engage youth and their families to help them grow in their Christian walk and relationship with Jesus. He is also very much into good food, grilling, and afternoon wiffle ball games in the back yard.

They found their church home at Gateway. Bonnie is passionate about praising God and helps lead worship with the praise band, Streets of Gold, as well as working with the youth Christmas musical and the Live Nativity Play. Bonnie has three grown children, Justin, Joanna, Marcus, plus a son-in-law, Scott and three grandchildren, Payton and Ava, and Sawyer. Matt Demos

Co-Treasurer & Leadership Team Member

Matt grew up in Media, PA. After attending college at McDaniel College, and earning a degree in mathematics and his secondary education certification, he moved to Aston, PA.  In 2007, he earned his masters degree in education from Neumann University.  Since 2004, he has taught middle school math at Ridley Middle School. Matt has attended Gateway since 1997.
Though he grew up in a presbyterian church, it wasn’t until he started attending Gateway that he really consciously committed his life to Christ.  In the past ten years, Matt has been a regular singer and guitar player in the praise band as well as an actor in various skits and announcements at Gateway.  More recently, he has portrayed Daniel, Paul, and Moses for the summer Vacation Bible School series.  Matt has been a part of the Leadership Team in early 2016.

Rodney & Bonnie have lived in the Delaware Valley area since 1976.  Rodney is a native of Georgia and Bonnie of Florida. They have three grown children, Justin, Joanna, Marcus, a wonderful son-in-law, Scott, and three grandchildren, Payton and Ava, and Sawyer. Over the years he has worked as a technician within The DuPont Pharmaceuticals Company, Hercules Inc., and Synthes, USA.  He is recently retired and enjoying time spent with grandchildren, catching up with independent research and church activities.
